Congratulations, Your getting Married! Now there are so many things to plan. All your life you've thought about what your wedding will look like and finally your chance is here to plan that wonderful day. I have recently gotten engaged myself and am working through the planning process with my fiance and there are so many things to consider! Here is a list of things you will need to think about and plan for your own wedding! Things fall into place as you take these first steps and obviously certain decisions need to be made before others so that you can create your day just as you've imagined.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! First you need to choose a LOCATION - Go ahead and get the location knocked out. Locations book far in advance and will in many cases be a large expense. Most locations will have a list of preferred caterers that you have to use, so if you have a certain caterer of vendor in mind, be sure to ask if you can bring in your own catering and other vendors. Many locations set up packages that include designated vendors and while it can save you a lot of headaches, it could also add to the expenses to consider your options! There are tons of locations out there worthy of your time. Feel free to ask us for assistance, we know many that range from inexpensive to lavish.

We have actually booked our location at Ventanas Atlanta, and are very excited about the space, as it really sets the scene and mood for our big day, but as with many other places, there are limitations that we are having to work with to make the day as amazing as we imagine!

Photographers book up quickly and although this is the most saturated field out there, if you have your heart set on a certain photographer you may want to book soon! You can find a Wedding photographer for almost any budget, so if you are on a tight one it may be a place for you to cut!!! But remember the last thing you want to do here allow someone you aren't sure about to shoot one of the most memorable days in your life. Anyone with a camera can take some perfectly exposed photographs with even decent composition, but that doesn't mean they will capture your day the way you imagine! Remember your wedding day may be a bit of a blur after the fact and photographs are the key to remembering all the details for a lifetime!

Our Photographer is Jamie Howell Photography, and we are very pleased with what he is willing to offer - he is definitely giving us the most for our money, and we are excited to be working with him and his team! As a photographer myself, there were key things I was looking for, and I believe it's very important to not only get someone with know how, but also someone that makes you feel comfortable and is willing to work with you and your expectations!

Catering and Alcohol is your biggest expense and a very important one, you are spending a lot of money on this day and you want your guests to walk away satisfied and remembering your wedding! I have been to weddings where the food was bad, cold or just not worthy of a high school cafeteria and that is the one thing that I remember most about those weddings. You want people to eat, drink and be merry! It's a celebration and who can celebrate without FOOD and DRINKS! My fiance, her family and I have met with several caterers and also went to a tasting. There are so many options and decisions to make as it relates to this piece of the puzzle to prepare yourself! Oh and stay away from dates, dried fruits and lot of nuts if you want to keep your guests out of the bathroom!

Flowers can add a lot to a wedding, but it can also be a huge expense, and something your may not get as much return on! I believe with the right florist, you as a team can come up with great ideas as there are so many beautiful flowers and plants to choose from! Be wary of choosing flowers that are out of season as that will add a lot of cost to your budget. A good florist will be able to design to your style while sticking to a reasonable budget - there are too many options for you not to be able to design to a budget!

DJ or Band - Entertainment is also a very important piece in your wedding day! Again as we said this is a celebration and you want people to get up and celebrate. The DJ and/or Brand truly sets the mood for the evening! Make sure you are happy with your DJ or Band as they two offer a wide range of pricing and will help with the flow of the evening. Be sure to create a list of must have songs as you want to be sure that the music represents you as a couple and as a family!

Lighting generally is not an absolute need, but you can create a great ambiance. It can also add to the overall decor of your wedding. It can be a great substitute for other decor options on a tight budget, but it can also be an unnecessary expensive depending on your event! Lighting will also give way to better exposed photography when dealing with low light evening venues.

The Pastor, Rabeye, or Officiant is a very important part of your day, and it is important to find someone that understands you and your fiancé as a couple. Again this is an important piece to consider early on as officiants book up quickly as well and in some cases require counseling prior to the wedding ceremony! It certainly does not need to be a huge expense, but should be factored in!

Tables and Chairs are clearly a must have and depending on your location you may need to bring in these pieces. This can be a very expensive endeavor, so be sure to consider the way you envision your day when looking at locations. It makes life easier when your venue supplies these must have items!

Brides Against Breast Cancer

This past weekend I had the pleasure of volunteering for the Brides Against Breast Cancer Gown Sale. We had a blast supporting such a wonderful cause and providing all the wonderful brides the opportunity to not only find a beautiful dress for their big day, but also a chances to support the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation. What a great weekend!
